You’ve been asking for a candle based on our famous insect repellent…….. so here it is.  Containing only Lemon Eucalyptus oil, Lemongrass oil, Vanilla Oil and pure Soy wax, this candle is perfect for keeping biting insects out of both indoor and outdoor spaces – great for use in lounges or bedrooms, when away camping or in your motorhome and caravan. 2B’s Insect Repellent Candle is far more potent than a citronella candle, has a fresh lemony scent and is very clean burning. Our Candles come in a screw top aluminium tin to keep the aromatics in, and make transport easy if travelling.

LEMON EUCALYPTUS OIL

A natural oil extracted from the leaves and twigs of lemon-scented gum/eucalyptus trees, Eucalyptus Citriodora Hook. Wonderful smelling and the most powerful natural repellent on earth.

LEMONGRASS OIL

Lemongrass Oil is an effective repellent in its own right, but it forms a very potent combination when used in tandem with the Lemon Eucalyptus oil. Here it gives a strong scent of fresh lemony citrus.

VANILLA

One of the World’s favourite aromas, its rich base notes balance out the citrus scent of Lemongrass and Lemon Eucalyptus, completing a recipe that smells wonderful & keeps the bugs at bay.

PURE SOY WAX

Many of the cheaper candles available use paraffin and they burn with a foul choking smoke, but we use a pure soy wax which produces no toxins, carcinogens or pollutants, making it a sensible choice for people with sensitivities. This clean burning means 2B Candles can be used as an indoor candle too. Soy wax also burns cooler, making it last up to 50% longer than paraffin candles.

CLEAN BURNING COTTON WICK

We use a CDN wick which is made of pure cotton with a paper braid and is zinc and lead free. They are very clean burning and some of the best in the industry.

ALUMINIUM TIN

We use aluminium screw top tins. These are airtight, won’t rust and are not affected by the fragrances so after the candle is finished, they can be washed and re-used for a variety of purposes.

HAND POURED

All our candles are batch produced and hand poured to ensure they are of a consistently high standard.

These candles will give you approximately 12 hours of burn time, but to achieve that there are a few simple things you need to be aware of:

  • Always keep the lid screwed on nice and tight whenever you are not burning your candle. This ensures that the aromatics in the candle are raring to go when you open the lid and light it.
  • As with all candles, the first burn is the most important. Make sure the first time the candle is lit it burns long enough to melt the wax all the way to the edges. This will set the candle’s ‘memory’ and ensure it always burns correctly, preventing tunneling.
  • Depending on the size of your room, a hour burn should be ample to ensure the atmosphere is inhospitable to biting insects for the evening – in a caravan you’d only need 5 minutes. Have a window open so insects already inside are driven out.  Don’t leave the candle unattended or burning whilst asleep.
  • Once the candle has been burning a while and the aromatics fill the room, the bugs won’t come in any more, however delicious you are!  However, remember that these candles only deter biting insects, they don’t kill them (because if they did kill bugs, we shouldn’t be breathing it either).

Lastly, as with any naked flame, ensure you only light it on a level, fire resistant surface, away from any flammable objects, and out of reach from children or pets.
